The society had a wonderful send off for Mayfield tonight as it was our last public event at the site we have used so successfully for the last 14 years. And what a send off it was as it was possibly the best Perseid meteor shower in years. Over 40 people oohed and aahed as numerous meteors streaked across the sky. We also had a fireball and two glorious passages of the International Space Station. Some of the Perseids were really bright and green in colour but I think they were a bit shy of the cameras as those with cameras had a bit of trouble capturing them.
